Edisto Beach State Park

Image
Edisto Beach State Park South Carolina Edisto Beach is a small, quiet beach town.  It's very opposite from the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach. Edisto Beach has one gas station, one grocery store and a few locally owned restaurants. It is an absolutely wonderful place to take a family vacation.  Since it's only about 45 minutes away from my Mom's house, sometimes we take a quick day trip to explore the beach, or visit the Edisto Island Serpentarium. There are lots of options for fishing with boat rentals or as my son and nephew enjoy,  just fishing from the beach. We have a family vacation planned for the summer to stay at one of the state park campgrounds.  Just a few images below from a recent day trip that included lunch at the SeaCow Eatery... which is delicious! Beautiful trees with moss covered branches on a leisurely stroll at Edisto.  Shh... don't tell my Mom.  I think she'd have a fit if she knew I posted her on the beach.  ...

Hamilton Branch State Park, SC

Hamilton Branch State Park Plum Branch, South Carolina Just like Hickory Knob Sate Park, Hamilton Branch is also located on Lake Thurmond.  This state park probably has the best camping spots I've ever seen at a campground for either RV or tent camping.  The camping sites are large in comparison to the average sites seen at other campgrounds.  Not only are they large, but almost all sites have a trail leading down the the water's edge.  We were able to easily push off in our Kayak and even go out for a swim from our site.   The overall atmosphere of the state park is very inviting and relaxing.    Hamilton Branch is definitely one of my top favorites for a SC State Park.  If you want a calm, relaxing day at the lake with a little glimpse of wildlife ... this state park is what you need.  Below is a picture of my sister Angie and myself as we Kayak along the lake viewing a duck family moving along together by the lake edge....

Hickory Knob State Park, SC

Hickory Knob State Park McCormick County, SC Hickory Knob is a SC State Park located on Strom Thurmond Lake in McCormick County. It's one of my favorite state parks because it has so many resources and activities to keep our family entertained.  My husband enjoys the beautiful golf course and my son loves the canoe & kayak rentals and fishing. I enjoy reading a book by the lake or taking a walk on the Beaver Run Trail which is only about 2.5 miles long.  If your adventurous and desire a long hike, then the Lake view Loop Trail might be more your speed as it's slightly over 7 miles long.   For those that want to take a break from the lake life, the state park also has a swimming pool which is available to those staying in the lodge rooms.  The other great feature of this state park is the onsite restaurant and gift shop.  The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  It's really nice to have the restaurant...
